Sunshine Girl

By Julia Marie

July 14 2009

I sure have done some shady things
But you see through it
You tell me I've got a heart worth taking
Saying my life is light and that I got wings

Seein' my freakin' out, sneakin' about
Saying it's all right my sunshine girl

Sunshine Girl gone to the moon again
She's dark and misty
She's mixed up and driftin'
She's taking her time

Searching for my heart when it's dark is scary
You're left picking me up, pointing to the sky
Saying look up my star, there you are
Your gonna be just fine

You mean the world full over to me
You mean hurricanes and tornados of love & life
Makes me cry to think I've been mean
With all the love you give to me

Sunshine Girl gone to the moon again
She's picking up rocks
Filling up her pockets
Praying for rays of light
Taking what she can before nightfall

Bright Light Transistor

By Julia Marie

I am a bright light transistor
I can feel life comin' on faster
Blue skies don't mean nothin'
Without stars and arrows and dreams

I try to learn now for my little sisters
Cause wolves and demons stalk the night
Gotta know I'll put in my fight
Hear me cry in bright lights

I am a bright light transistor
Flowers are picked, dying for spirits that lift then fade
Wise men weep and gamblers creep in spades
Gold coins don't mean nothin'
Without a heart or a beat, triumphs are just defeat

I try to learn now for my little sisters
Cause mirrors and tears waste away years
I've put in my time so I gotta cry
Hear me cry in bright lights

Be a bright light transistor
Carry away days and days of the sad and long
Think twice before looking the other way
Two times before getting wrapped up in hate
She is you she is me she is angel grace embraced
I see eyes and lips eclipsed, within lies your gift
A pretty face don't mean nothin'
Without a voice, poise and choice, you are blind

I try to learn now for my little sisters
Heros and dragons fight for life and so do we
Hear me cry! Here we cry!
I hear you cry and I beam with pride in bright lights!

My Tomorrow

By Julia Marie

Tomorrow's got it all
Shinny and blue
So clear I can see through
So clean it makes me new

Tomorrow I'm gonna get there
Miles and miles will shoot on by
Like a light beam cast so high

Tomorrow's gonna be easy
Chills will crawl up my arms and carry me far
Thrilling me all the way to the stars

I know it's gonna happen
It's just got to
I know it's all gonna happen
It's just got to

Tomorrow brings me back to yesterday

Like a day dream come true
Like a broken heart glued
Like a baby bird first flew
I wonder if she knew?

Sylvia

By Julia Marie

Love speaks once
Leaving me reckless and chattering
I can't brave the night
But I must

Wicked, that look in your crying eyes
I can't bear the thought of it
Dawn comes and goes with a sigh
Crown him king so I can leave

Chilling, her arms legs and teeth
Each of her limbs, take a bite and chew
If this bird flies I will set her afire
I tell the truth and of this I tire

I have read of men like you
I have seen more than cradles and fish bowls
You must think I am a child
The way you spin me around you

Constant fields go on and on
They bore me and tear up my tired feet
Keep on keeping on, you say
Ha! You sold out for an old pair of shoes

Fill em up! Fill em up!
Step lightly over me as I sleep
Tread the lands land and walk on by
But don't doubt your dreams will run dry

Like water
Like blood
Like rust
Like love

Stars Tonight

By Julia Marie

California has done this to you
He said it like he knew it and I blew it
Crawling now like traffic on gravel, like hollow on a pipe
Can't believe I am such an enigma
Never planed on living life like dying

We are the stars tonight tomorrow daylight and set
We are tangled and touching and lit
Carry away days and days of sad songs
Now I am with the moon and day wont be coming soon

Wisk me away to a place of whimsy and air
Tell me I'm the one, the only, the majestic
Send me out the sill with the dove
The skies above need be warned

We'll live on in forever nights of heat, beats and sheets

Winter is heavy whether it's easy or breezy I don't really care
Such a shame I left you shouting, ringing in my ears
Love is not like I'd imagined when I drew it in pictures
Seasons come and then you're done
The rain has left me wishing, drifting to the rafters

We are the stars tonight tomorrow daylight and set
We are tangled and touching and lit
He said it like he knew it and I blew it

Wisk me away to a place of whimsy and air
Tell me I'm the one, the only, the majestic
Send me out the sill with the dove
The skies above need be warned

Carry away days and days of sad songs
Carry away days and days of sad songs
Carry away days and days of sad songs

Close my Eyes

December 16 4:14am

By Julia Marie

Close my eyes and I see black
But I yearn for something more

Wait and then again shut my eyes so tight
Hope they burn with something bright
Something to take away night

I see flashes
A kind of moon dance
My day in a haze
Faces a strangers gaze

Neon stripes maybe could take me away
Black boxes over black boxes
And I lie awake

Open my eyes and I see black
But I yearn for something more

Floor is cold under my little feet
I could walk on walls!
Leave this house!
Leave this town!
Pound the pavement and give them fire traction life light

I am so scared my stomach aches now and I have to rest
Close my eyes go to bed catch my tears in a basket in case of a droughtÂ…

Edie's Eyes

By Julia Marie Faussone

Steamy eyed vamp slips from chair to chair
Teacup eyes watch them stare
An adored little luminary takes Manhattan for a whirl
A vibrant scene maker and Warhol's factory girl

Glamorously fragile to a heartbreaking fault
Electric youth Quaker hear the high life call
Arise with the late night moon
Light up the silver room

I want Edie's eyes, like black-rimed teacups
Dreamland of languid lies and fleeting ties
I want Edie's eyes, cry like violet raindrops
Dreamland of languid lies and fleeting ties

Every tragedy starts with a curse
It leads a poet to a allusive verse
Old money and madness allures us to search
and proclaim you our mystery muse

Chelsea fell through to the fire
Play a little black jack and ride the final wire
Tragic Angel's beauty too quick to expire
Drift away on a breezy day in your little girl way

Can you hear?
1965 Girl of the Year,
Can you hear?
1965 Girl of the Year

Arise with the late night moon
Light up the silver room

I want Edie's eyes, like black-rimed teacups
Dreamland of languid lies and fleeting ties
I want Edie's eyes, cry like violet raindrops
Dreamland of languid lies and fleeting ties

Isis

By Julia Marie Faussone

It's seeping, creeping, leaping up again
It's seeping, creeping, leaping up again

Isis I need you
Make me frozen, let me escape
Red to blue, turn me to ice
I cast you out, love, love, love

And love sings, I am smoke and mirrors
Lilies and lilacs, I am shady longing
Coral and Jade, I am gravity and tears
Distant and running, I am high tide, low tide, no tide
Stirring

And love sings, I am licked lips
Wet, red and quivering, I am gold dust
Priceless and fleeting
I am hunger and fever
Burning

Pathos Heat never tires
Venus Burns, red orange fire
Genesis shoots stars into the sire
I am captured, enraptured by love

Isis I need you
Make me frozen, let me escape
Red to blue, turn me to ice
I cast you out, love, love, love

It's seeping, creeping, leaping up again
It's seeping, creeping, leaping up again

Sudden Breeze

By Julia Marie Faussone

A sudden breeze and a sullen breathe
Have thoroughly awoke a deep unrest
Wading in still water has lost its depth
So high tide has me breaking a promise kept

Luring me to the seas, step by step
This dusk dream takes me back to where I was once left

You sent this shorebird to the seas
You showed a bluebird a tide of green
But your serpentine stare had me tied
And in full stride you tossed me aside

So now you cast me a lurid line
Oh, your ruthless runaround astounds my tired mind

Soul Blue

By Julia Marie Faussone

My glass of gin is filled to the rim
It goes down hard, but way too slow
This is the part of the story where I start forgetting
It is written that I stop regretting

But here I am once again with gin to the rim
My heart swimming in blue

Tonight I paint my soul blue
Michelangelo, Picasso’s truth
Mozart soars, constant blue notes play
And tonight I sing my soul blue

The quilt beneath my skin
Is left loose stitched and thin
No birds are singing as I conduct my crying song
This thunder lullaby strums all night long

Tonight I paint my soul blue
Michelangelo, Picasso’s truth
Mozart soars, constant blue notes play
And tonight I sing my soul blue

I’m hoping a Manhattan ferry ride
A flight across the seas
A swim in the Pacific tide
Something will appease this breeze

Please wash away blue and you

But here I am once again with gin to the rim
My heart swimming in blue
